Zoobot (ZOO-bot) - derived by Mr. E through a contraction of zoology (the study of animals) and botany (the study of plants). I'm sure I will occasionally stray from the path and discuss something interesting in the kindoms of archea (sea-vent bacteria), monera (other bacteria), protists (quasi animal plant-like one cell life, or fungi (think mushrooms). Zoobot. It just sounds cool.

What is this?
Hello Zooboters! Sorry - I missed you guys on Friday, and I really don't know if I'll make it in tomorrow either as I'm still running a low fever from this nasty flu. (Don't think its "swine-y" though...). So this response will be wrapped up into my "sub-plan" for the day.
So I'd like you to response to this picture with your best guess of what this image actually is.
Once you decide what it is, I would like you to write a short essay about this, uh, whatever-it-is. Do not write this on the blog, just identify this thing in your response. On a SEPARATE SHEET OF PAPER please write what you imagine this "things" life cycle to be. Please discuss its birth, habitat, predator prey relationships, young life, reproduction, family and social interactions, and death.
I'll collect these stories - best one wins, er, something.

This, is a jack-o-lantern. It begins its life cyle in a pile of manure as a small seed(commonly salted, covered in teriaky sauce and baked at 350 for 15 mins). As the sprout begins, the plant devolps a vine. The vine produces flowers that then close and bud into pumpkins. The pumpkins are then harvested and used either to decorate, eat, or make jack-o-lanterns. For a jack-o-lantern, the pumpkins stem is cut out with a chunk of the pumpkin, allowing room for a spoon to scoop out the guts. An image can then be drawn on the pumpkin and then carved out. As a candle is lit and placed in the pumpkin, a jack-o-lantern is formed. It then sits somewhere for everyone to observe it rot. Once rotted, it is picked up in several mushy pieces and thrown back in the manure pile where it's life cycle repeats itself. The jack-o-lantern's biggest predator is the dog.
