Zoobot (ZOO-bot) - derived by Mr. E through a contraction of zoology (the study of animals) and botany (the study of plants). I'm sure I will occasionally stray from the path and discuss something interesting in the kindoms of archea (sea-vent bacteria), monera (other bacteria), protists (quasi animal plant-like one cell life, or fungi (think mushrooms). Zoobot. It just sounds cool.

NAME THE OCTOPUS!
You can tell it's a slow night at my house. Actually, I'm just pooped after having a grandchild's 3rd birthday family celebration here. So - you get off light this week! (Use the time wisely -)
Use your comment to name the octopus! No simple name (not "Bessie") but a fake scientific name that you explain. Format: Capitalized Genus has to be Octopus followed by lower case species name of your choice. You can use fake latin. The common octopus, for example, is Octopus vulgaris.
My entry: Octopus bos cephalus, because the whole beast looks like a cow's head.
("The cow is of the bovine ilk; one end is moo, the other milk." Ogden Nash)
Best name wins a mini Snickers..........and don't try to milk the octopus for all it's worth.
(then, for further amusement - read the cartoon below)

I believe that he should have a name which defines his personality. He is obviously a shy, lazy creature due to his posture in the picture.
Quentin Gleimizes
(last is latin for slug methinks)
-Mike Diamond
*Correction
Quentin Gliemizes
Drumrole please! ...
Octopussus Rumbilinrhinocerus
Andy H
I agree with Mike that it should have something to do with his personality, which I think is sloth like. So,
Octopus Slothofigus
(like snuffalufigus from Sesame Street)
~Stacy~
I like Stacy's :D
I would like to name him based on his colors and patterning, which remind me of a certain type of cheese. So:
Octopus muensterius
I also liked its color and that is why I'm going to name him...
Octopus aurantiacus
-Amanda O.
Based on our previous discussions of octopus being intelligent, I am going to name mine:
Octopus intelligentus
Caitlin R.
"Octopus digestor", I named him this because in latin digestor means one who makes patterns. In this case the octopus is using his patterns to blend into the sand, so he can ambush his prey.
hmm...well this Octopus looks very lazy, yet very mean and frightening...sooo...I will name him/her/it
**pinguis ignavus vilis iuguolo octopus**
which meanss (Fat Lazy Mean Killer Octopus). Well I hope thats what it means, thats what I was trying to make it mean! hehe
-Heidi
I am pretty sure this octopus is awesome, therefore number 1, therefore "Prime". I also know they have to ability to transform (well technically squish themselves) to fit into small places and such. Anyone who has the slightest knowledge of Transformers should know I'm about to name him/her...
Octopus Prime!
-Daniel G.
Octcrur lamia
This is the name I might give to an octopus. It, roughly, means eight-legged ghost. I feel this name is appropriate because they move so eerily with such grace and then the given eight legs is a sort of signature of the octopus.
octopussus der ausomusus
Duh the octopus is orange IE:he's awesome
Da Cleava
I give it the name Octopus arenam fodens.
this means digging sand. to me, it looks like he is halfway in the sand
I think that he looks rather hungry and may be looking for prey. Therefore I named him Octopus esuritio, from the Latin for "hunger."
Octupus Aude sapere
Means Octupus "Dare to Know" haha Thought it would be intimidating. This octupus looks pretty scarey so I think that this would be a good name.
